We are fortunate to have so many great people in our lives!
Jen’s Attendants
Angela Stacklin, Maid of Honor -- Sister of the Bride
Angie and Jen go waaaay back...ever since, well, Angie was born. She’s almost as goofy as Jen, but thankfully a little saner. By day, Ang is focused on studying Hotel/Restaurant Management at Oklahoma State. By night, she’s a knife-flipping, salt-juggling, spatula-drumming Hibachi chef dazzling customers with amazing feats and delicious treats. Jen admires Angie’s hard work, personal growth and wicked knitting skills. She also may be the only person in the world who completely understands Jen’s bizarre sense of humor. When they’re together they laugh like school kids being tickled...and who speak their own language.

Betsy Johnson -- Friend of the Bride
Jen and Betsy met during their freshman work study job at Ohio University. Betsy is also a graphic designer and her husband, Steve, is finishing his degree in design. They have a beautiful daughter, Eva who was born in July, 2003. Jen and Betsy really “grew up” together while in college. Betsy is truly a beautiful person who is both strong and caring. Jen always enjoys the time she gets to spend with Betsy, soaking up her wonderful personality and laughing at the peculiar sides of life.

Nickelle Sletteland -- Friend of the Bride
Jen met Nickelle during the glory (and busy) days of CollegeClub.com. Now, Nickelle and her husband, Jesse, have their own real estate business in San Diego and a kooky Chocolate Lab named Sierra (who can unwisely eat just about anything...Sierra, that is, not Jesse). Nickelle is a wonderfully loyal friend who always has a shoulder to cry on as well as someone to crack up with. She’s thoughtful, caring and a hoot to be around. Jim and Jesse often look at each other in confusion while the two women carry on, laughing hysterically.

Olivia Stacklin, Flower Girl -- Niece of the Bride
Olivia will be two in July, 2004. She likes to color and ride her tricycle. She loves to laugh, but most of all to make other people laugh. Olivia (or “Miss O”) keeps her parents, Jen’s brother Jeff and sister-in-law Laura, in stitches and also happens to have the longest eyelashes in the world. In fact, when she blinks the force of her luxurious eyelashes changes weather patterns in distant lands.

Jim’s Attendants
John Styn, Best Man -- Brother of the Groom
John is Jim’s older brother and best man. John is a wacky, creative and incredibly intelligent man. John and Jim made it easy on their parents by becoming close friends when they were young, and that friendship has never let up. John is a constant source of inspiration and support for Jim and makes the world a more wonderfully interesting and friendly place. Whether it’s his wild hair, festive clothes or his big hug greetings, he’s unforgettable. Really. We dare you. Just you try and forget him.

Deron Cohen – Friend of the Groom
Deron and Jim have been friends since they were little kids. Through playing baseball together in elementary school, riding bikes to school in junior high and carpooling in the beige Styn Volvo station wagon in high school, Deron has always been there for Jim. Deron is an amazing artist, through and through, and continues to live a life where he spreads the love. He’s the most trusting person Jim knows and is a master of “hug karate.” Deron is truly a ‘soul’ brother.

Brandon Cohen – Friend of the Groom
Brandon is also a ‘soul’ brother to Jim (and Deron’s younger brother). Brandon and Jim became particularly close after Brandon became “Berkeley-ized” while getting his BS and Masters in environmental engineering at UC Berkeley. Jim and Brandon have had many long nights discussing the world, philosophy, spirituality, relationships and the 1984 San Diego Padres lineup. Jim and Brandon backpacked together in South America in 1999 and Brandon is currently making the world a better place by serving in the Peace Corps in Ecuador. He is graciously making the trip to San Diego to join the celebration.

Rev. Caleb Shikles, Minister – Grandfather of the Groom
Caleb is Jim’s grandfather and the grooviest person that Jim and Jen know. As he approaches his 92nd birthday, he is a constant lesson on how to live a compassionate, healthy and spiritual life. His appreciation of the gifts of life and admirable focus on improving himself and the world around him is truly inspiring. Quick with a hug or words of wisdom, any time spent with Caleb is a blessing. He will marry Jim and Jen as he has over 1200 couples over the past seventy years.

Karl Mueller, Reader – Friend of the Groom
Karl and Jim have been close ever since they took an often-teased “Jr. Stud Club” photo in the 7th grade. Karl will perform a reading during the ceremony...and sing karaoke later in the night unless we stop him. As a teacher, Karl shows students how to live better as well as how to be successful in school. Karl and Jim have always enjoyed playing sports together and are usually playing tennis, running, throwing Frisbee, playing softball or bowling...but rarely all at the same time. Karl and his wife, Lia, are wonderful friends and make our lives more fun.

Shonda Dawson, Singer – Friend of the Bride and Groom
Shonda is a remarkably talented woman and a joy to know. Whether she's singing, dancing or spinning fire, Shonda is captivating. Shonda is a wonderful friend and we feel fortunate to have her in our lives. With a smile that lights up the room and a great sense of humor, she just oozes good vibes.
